Summary
Microsoft Viva introduces a centralized exclusion list in Viva Feature Access Management, allowing admins to exclude specific users or groups from sharing Viva Insights data with Viva Glint. This feature, rolling out mid-May to late June 2026, enhances privacy controls without disabling the entire integration.
Body (from Message Center)
[Introduction]
We’re improving the Viva Glint and Viva Insights integration by introducing a centralized exclusion list in Viva Feature Access Management. This update allows Viva Glint admins to exclude specific users or groups from having their Viva Insights data shared with Viva Glint without having to disable the entire integration. This simplifies configuration and supports consistent, privacy-conscious data-sharing controls.
[When this will happen:]
- General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins mid-May 2026 and is expected to complete by late June 2026.
[How this affects your organization:]
Who is affected:
- Tenants using Viva Insights workplace metrics in Viva Glint
- Viva Glint and Global admins managing Viva Feature Access Management
What will happen:
- If you previously kept the Viva Glint and Viva Insights integration disabled because certain users or groups should not have their Viva Insights metrics shared with Viva Glint, you can now exclude those users or groups and turn on the integration.
- A new setting appears under Viva Glint: “Allow data sharing from Viva Insights.”
- Admins can exclude specific Entra ID users or groups from data sharing.
- Excluded users’ Viva Insights metrics will not be shared with Viva Glint.
- The integration remains unchanged unless admins configure this setting.
[What you can do to prepare:]
- Review whether your organization has users or groups whose Viva Insights data should not be shared with Viva Glint
- No action is required if you want Viva Insights data shared with Viva Glint for all eligible users.
- If you have users or groups whose Viva Insights metrics should not be shared with Viva Glint, you can configure exclusions using the new setting once it becomes available.
- Go to Viva Feature Access Management
- Select Viva Glint
- Open Allow data sharing from Viva Insights
- Choose Off → Specific people and groups
- Add the relevant Entra ID users or groups
- Update internal privacy or data‑sharing documentation if applicable
- Inform HR, analytics, or insights teams of the new control to avoid duplicate or manual workarounds

[Compliance considerations:]
| Compliance area | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Processing or access to existing customer data | Admins can exclude selected users or groups so their Viva Insights metrics are not shared with Viva Glint, changing how existing data is accessed across services. |
| Admin controls and Entra ID group support | The feature introduces a new admin control in Viva Feature Access Management that supports excluding Microsoft Entra ID users and groups. |
| Compliance monitoring and reporting | Centralized exclusion management improves consistency and auditability of privacy and data-sharing controls across Viva services. |
